When Gillian approached me to do a portrait of her grandson, she supplied me with her favourite picture, which measured about 3x4".  She was looking for portrait that was larger (11x14"), that would make a big statement on her family's wall.  I found that creating a curved vignette of her grandson brought movement and focus up to his inquisitive expression, while my layering technique brought lovely depths to his soft brown eyes.

"Thank you so much, Kristi!  I am blown away by the portrait you did of my grandson. I love the detailed exactness that you got from the small photo!

Thanks again,

Gillian"

This was a really fun commission with a local family that hired me to draw their portrait.  We met in their home and shot about fifty photos - none of which were absolutely perfect since some members disliked how they looked (and some were being "sillypantses", see above!).  Thankfully, I can combine everyone's favourite photo of themselves and turn it into the final portrait that everyone can be satisfied with.  It's one of my special talents, and it's exactly what I did for the Cottrells.  I created a contact sheet for them to pick their favourite faces from the shoot, and the end result is a well-behaved family!

What My Clients Are Saying

"I would like to take this opportunity to thank you again for the family portrait you created for us. The whole experience (from our initial meeting to the final unveiling of our beautifully framed work of art) was an incredibly enjoyable experience and again I can't stress enough just how happy we are with the finished product . Thanks again for a work of art that we can enjoy and appreciate for years to come.
Sincerely,

The Cottrells"
